An informal introduction...

this is for the masses...
i've realised we haven't really did a introduction yet...and i've been getting questions like:"why chop squad?" and how did our "desu desu san kyodai" (the title of this blog) came about...

i'll start with Chop Squad..
well, nothing much about this...its the name of our band and its been inactive since it was formed because of lack of members and mainly, because of the lack of time...kb's in ntu and has been actively participating in hall activities and sometimes it's quite tough to contact him....pl's working and he starts work when most of us are still sleeping....and as for me...i'm working retail hours and weekends are pretty much burnt..so yea...meeting up is difficult..much less jam...

Kaibin is our band's bassist, although originally he was the guitarist and keyboardist..he's had alot of practice on the bass as he plays bass for his hall band...and might as well play bass for us....

Ping is of course...the vocals for Chop Squad...and nonetheless, considered the most important piece in a band....

And me, Ben, plays the keyboards...i was originally the bassist but due to a serious lack of practice...and after discussion with the rest...came to a consensus that i'll be Chop Squad's keyboardist...

and yes...currently, there's only the 3 of us....

San Nin Fuuuuuu!!!

and as for [Desu Desu San Kyodai]....it originated from our saturday's japanese elementary class...we tried adding 'desu' to all our conversations and answers and the sensei just burst out laughing and couldn't really think of a way to stop us....well..its all in the name of fun =)

and san kyodai...loosely translates into 3 brothers....
this was taken off an anime, eyeshield 21...from the original san kyodai, Huh Huh San Kyodai that does not have any bit of blood relation....

Cheers!

What you pay...is NOT what you get...

okie...let's get 1 thing straight...going to japan is NOT as expensive as whoever might think...go ahead shoot me!

erm...and if you start comparing tokyo to thailand or taiwan...of course the latter is cheaper...DUH~

alrighty then, so far its been pics of us and scenery or voyeur shots of the places we've been..i thought it would be great to post an entry on the food we've tried...

Choc Cro at St Marc's cafe in Shibuya:
what you see in the above 3 pics are iced green tea latte and iced mocha, and we left out the iced choc.
this was simply sinful...crossaint stuffed with semi-melted chocolate bar is just godlike...

in the beginning..

in the end...it seriously doesn't even matter...

Fugetsu (風月) okonomiyaki at Odaiba...you've got to try this..
we paid about 4000 yen for 3 large ones..which translates to about 17 SGD per person..inclusive of 1 x beer and 2 x calpis..woot! and may i state that prices are AFTER TAX...

this was our favourite..
Matsuya (松屋)..if you thought yoshinoya was good..YOU THOUGHT WRONG!
680 yen for the set meal of a large beef bowl+egg and a soup..you break and beat the egg and then you pour it over the beef bowl...raw...and it was out of this world...the soup was almost as big as the rice itself and had plenty of ingredients in it..excellent if you want a cheap, tasty and filling meal...we had it twice...680 yen = 8.70 SGD (you pay around this price at yoshinoya and trust us, the taste ain't anyway near)

and amongst the high-end streets of Ginza, we found this surprisingly cheap and friggin owning ramen..underground literally...
ABC ラメン (ain't kidding, the call themselves ABC)...we ordered the shop's top 3 favourites and understood why these were the top 3 after the 1st mouth... ramen in japan is ALL hand-made noodles and the soup are all self-created recipes that are unique in every ramen store...
prices range from 750-850 yen...or 9.60-10.80 SGD....AFTER TAX
complaining about expensive? think again about the prices you pay at Ajisen, or any ramen store here and the quality of food you get...rip-off shyte...

we had these at a family restaurant (like those you see in animes) off the main street near sensoji temple..
these are the usual fare you get at Sun with Moon (wheelock) or waraku (cuppage center)...and you pay about easily 17 SGD and more...
each set like the ones above costs about 1100 yen (14 SGD)..and sets comes with either sashimi or chawamushi....authentic japanese food made in japan..and how does it taste? no prizes for guessing...

blogger's note: all prices stated above are all inclusive of tax. (5% government tax ONLY)

maybe prices aren't cheaper...but at least it's around the same and seriously, the quality of food is so much better...
you can't find bad food in japan..simply because if any shop makes bad food..they close down immediately...
as we were savouring our ramen(s), pl said this (or something like this): "i can't imagine why we're paying such prices for food like that in Singapore."
i can understand why he said that. Ajisen's ramen are machine-made and are like rubber and how much are we paying? -_-

And there is just one more thing, we have become very suspecting peeps! Yes!
Imagine this ad:

Student lunch buffet at $9.90!

is it really $9.90?
you would always suspect or assume that there would be extra charges and yes...it is always 100% true that we pay more than what we see...
why do we pay 10% service charge when the service we get is naught...and soon 2 % more....

南洋中国人民大学

I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE!

Dear Singaporeans, can you take it?

No matter what PM Lee says, I still cannot take this issue without a fight. NTU WILL receive a petition from us. Since local universities do not give a shit about local students, I shall rant about it.

The bane of my complain is about Hall Placing in NTU. What the fuck. Is the SU trying to kill of hall life in NTU? I think they ARE. HAS system is a pussy magnet. I shan't bore you trying to explain it, but it simply discourages local students from staying. One have to be a chairman of a club/society/cca, AND minimum, stays at tampines JUST TO MEET THE FUCKING CUT OFF POINT. This is totally unacceptable. What about people who work just as hard, but stay in Telok Blangah? What about committee members who have forged a strong bond with each other, only find their bonds broken by HAS? My band, Slang is also at risk of disbanding. And why? So that the tiong-cocks can stay in our halls. Oh my god, what do they ever do to deserve hall placing? Shit don't flush, pee on people's toes, use pantry's microwave oven to dry socks, and worse of all, don't contribute to hall life at all, just lock themselves in their rooms and stink up the place. You people just derive deserving local students of their rightful places in OUR hall. You disgust me. Fuck off, you fucking fuck.

Suggestion to NTU: Please, build some rickety compartments in Lim Chu Kang cemetery or Pasir Laba live firing range for all I care and kick the tiong-cocks there, we will pay for the construction lol. They do NOT deserve to live in NTU Halls. Hall of residences are for RESIDENTS of singapore, not China Students. NTU, if you advertise your "Vibrant Campus Residential Life" again, I will take a high definition video of the shit these PRCs do in hall and shove it in your SAO personnel's face. Seriously, NTU already have an identity problem as being a tiong Uni, and is enforcing it with the HAS. Until they take over all the NTU places and Hall places and truly become 南洋中国人民大学, then will you be happy ah? Sheesh wad is going on with this. I rather more indians come. Oh btw, the indians in my hall function at night, dancing and hugging and shouting in the wee hours of night.

GOLIMA!!!!!! RIIIIP YOUR MAAAA!!!

1) The 冒牌迷你 statue of liberty
2) Xbox Sun
3) Pingling's proudest moment!
4) Ben's Voyeur Skills..... 有点失败。。
5) Another 冒牌迷你 statue of liberty shot

Haha, anyway Daiba is really like a paradise and an escape from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo City. You can't really appreciate the beauty and serenity of the place from these photos. Its THE place to par tor par tor on top of the building wif seats. We were making noise infront of 1 such couple ( very chio i should add ), then the girl offered to help us take a photo wif 3 of us inside, obviously trying to shoo us away from their prime love nest. Ahh...
